TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: An art museum in Central Java owned by art aficionado Oei Hong Djien has come under public scrutiny for its paintings – particularly those allegedly done by Sudjojono, Hendra Gunawan and Soedibio. The paintings that have come under scrutiny among others include “Wahyu (Epiphany)” and “Peta (Map)”, reportedly by Soedibio. In addition, a painting titled “Diponegoro dan Perdjuangan Belum Selesai (Diponegoro and Struggle Continues) created in 1967 by Sudjojono has also been questioned in terms of authenticity. Out of all works by Sudjojono exhibited at the Oei Hong Djien Museum, art critic Aminudin questioned the authenticity of 12 paintings. Some works by Hendra Gunawan have also been suspected of being false works such as Penjual Es Lilin (1970), Berjudi (1975), Pesta Kemenangan (1978), Perayaan 17 Agustus (1980), Penarik Gerobak (1980), Pasar Malam (1981), Perang Buleleng di Bali (1982) and Panen Padi (1980).
