TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Due to increasing flight frequency at several airports over recent years, airport management Angkasa Pura II has extended operational hours in four airports, some until midnight, starting early this July.

The four airports are Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport in Palembang, Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport in Pekanbaru, Supadio Airport in Pontianak and Minangkabau Airport in Padang.

“Now they all operate from 6 a.m. to midnight, or for 18 hours,” said Angkasa Pura II corporate secretary Trisno Heryadi on Tuesday.

The additional operational hours, according to Trisno, have been approved by the Transportation Ministry.

Trisno added that the policy had been implemented in compliance with recommendations from Air Traffic Services (ATS) and airlines’ expansion plans.
