TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The plan to disburse assistance for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has boosted the government’s confidence. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono expressed his delight over the plan at the presidential office on Tuesday.

“Now [we] can present ourselves solidly in front of the IMF,” Yudhoyono told reporters before welcoming IMF executive-director Christine Lagarde.

Furthermore, Yudhoyono added that Indonesia has settled the country’s debt to the institution that redirected Indonesia’s economy during the 1998 Asian financial crisis. Indonesia’s has grown steadily over the past two years despite financial stresses in the US and Europe. This year’s economic growth is expected to reach 6.3 percent.
