TAWI-TAWI, Philippines - A one-day old baby was among 108 children returnees from Sabah who arrived in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi on Tuesday night, March 19.

Norisa Sayron Asadah, 35, gave birth to the baby girl in Taganak on Monday. She is identified in the passenger manifest as "Baby girl Asadah."

Norisa is originally from Jolo, Sulu. Aboard Coast Guard's BRP Edsa Dos, they temporarily docked in Bongao to drop off some 75 Tawi-Tawi residents.

SINGAPORE — Most Singaporeans said in a poll on office romance that it is easier to find a partner at the workplace.

According to the survey by online recruitment company JobStreet.com, 8 in 10 believe the chances of finding romance at the workplace are higher.

Thirty-two per cent said they had dated a co-worker at least once in their career, while 13 per cent admitted to dating co-workers at least twice.

On work performance, only 23 per cent of office staff felt that dating a co-worker would hurt productivity, while 41 per cent saw it as a morale booster, and 35 per cent said they would be able to separate work from personal matters.

Many residents in this long-time bastion of pro-Khmer Rouge sentiment have fond memories of Ieng Sary, the former war crimes defendant whose death last week at the age of 87 freed him from prosecution.

But they also remember another man, the late King Father Norodom Sihanouk, whose visits to Malai in the mid-1980s are a somewhat forgotten piece of history. A replica of the compound where he stayed is there today, used as a library and for Buddhist ceremonies.

Meas Chandalin’s career shows that a low educational background is no obstacle to prosperity. The 27-year-old mother of two is successfully running nine second-hand clothing shops in Phnom Penh, watching her business growing smoothly. Her greatest teacher, she says, is her mother.

While Chandalin’s peers went to school in the early morning, she had to help her parents with their second-hand clothing business. The eldest daughter among three siblings, she dropped out of in the ninth grade, going to the market instead.
