India’s job market is bearing the brunt of a slowdown in the broader economy. The hiring environment continues to be weak in all major sectors, with too much improvement unlikely in the coming quarters, surveys by leading headhunters have found.   India’s net employment outlook — an indicator of recruitment intentions — stood at 18% for the third quarter (July-September) of 2013 against a year ago, according to a Manpower Employment Outlook Survey of 5,265 staff.

"Though employers expect positive hiring activity during the third quarter, the numbers will be weaker compared to the year-ago period," said AG Rao, managing director, Manpower Group, India.

The fall in the value of the rupee has weakened the chances of your home loan EMIs coming down. How? Because Reserve Bank of India Governor D Subbarao may be unwilling to cut interest rates, as the fall in the rupee will fan inflation by knocking up prices of oil and other imported items.

This could, in turn, make many items like cars, steel, capital goods and others, more expensive.

"It (continuous fall in rupee) leaves lesser space for the Reserve Bank to cut rates," said Harihar Krishnamoorthy, head of treasury operations, FirstRand Bank. "Two weeks ago, experts were predicting a 0.25 percentage point cut in interest rates but now there is only a 50:50 chance of that happening," he said.

ISLAMABAD, June 11: The current financial year was a bad one and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar only confirmed widespread slippages on economic targets.

Launching the Economic Survey of 2012-13 here on Tuesday, the minister hinted at a difficult road ahead, including a gradual increase in electricity tariff to bridge a gap of Rs6 per unit between cost and its billing and promised to eradicate Rs500 billion circular debt before June 30 or in two months at worst. “Unless we do it, reduction in loadshedding is not possible,” he said.

“The state of economy is facing severe macroeconomic challenges and will have to be brought back on the right direction through a series of policies, including structural reforms, stabilisation measures and painful actions,” Mr Dar said. These policies would be reflected in the national budget on Wednesday in light of the PML-N’s election manifesto.

KARACHI, June 11: The slip of the tongue at various places and more importantly the out-dated figures provided in the “overview of the economy” in Economic Survey 2012-13 give an insight into the break-neck speed at which the officials must have completed their job. “The adverse impact of these economic difficulties was further compounded by the ongoing war against extremism which not only on one hand caused irreparable loss to the economy but wiped out mental peace and harmony among the masses of the country,” could be noticed for the poor language and being outside the survey of economy.

And there are various gems including: “Karachi is the main hub of the economic activities” or “In retaliation to terrorists activities long and big sit down stage protests took place which sent a bad signal to outside world about the insecurity prevailing in the country.”
